This course is designed to prepare candidates to successfully teach English Language Arts (ELA) and social studies (SS) to students in the fourth and fifth grades. Pedagogy directly linked to the nature and needs of the child in the fourth and fifth grades as related to ELA and SS will be discussed and practiced throughout the course. This course will build on foundational knowledge of early and middle childhood students’ cognitive, affective, and academic development. There are 20 hours of field experience associated with this course.
